Install Effortless Building on Minecraft
Install Effortless Building 4.3 on a NeoForge or Fabric 26.3 server, add Fabric API by hand, then set the survival build limits as an operator.
Effortless Building by Requios speeds up building. It places and breaks many blocks at once with build modes such as line, wall, cube and sphere, mirrors and arrays copy what you place, a randomizer tool mixes blocks, and undo and redo are built in. It works in survival as well as creative, and it needs to be installed on both the server and each player's game. It runs on NeoForge and Fabric.
Checked against Effortless Building 4.3 on Fabric with Minecraft 26.3, October 2026.
What it needs
Effortless Building is a mod, not a plugin, so Paper and Purpur servers can't load it. The project says it is not client-only: the server part places the blocks in bulk, because the client would otherwise have to send every block separately, which the project says would overload most servers.
- NeoForge: no extra libraries.
- Fabric: Fabric API. Modrinth lists no dependencies for this mod, so the Mods tab will not offer it. Install Fabric API first, from the same tab.
Version 4.3 also has builds for Minecraft 26.2, 26.1.2 and 1.21.11. Forge builds stop at 3.11, for Minecraft 1.20.1. Minecraft 26.x runs on Java 25, which the panel selects for you. To change loader or version, use JAR Manager under More: pick the loader under Server software, the version under Minecraft version, then press Apply change. The loader and version guide has the steps. Leave Take a backup first ticked in the confirmation window.
Install it
- Open Mods under Content and keep the Modrinth chip selected in the source chip row at the top of the tab. The Game version filter starts on your server's version.
- On Fabric, search for
Fabric APIand press Install. - Search for
Effortless Buildingand press Install. Several mods share the name, so take the one by Requios. - Restart from the Console tab.
Check the Installed view. Effortless Building should be listed with no Failed to load badge.
Players need it too
Each player installs the same Effortless Building version for their loader and Minecraft version. Join a modded server from your launcher covers the player side, and Fix the mismatched mod channel list error explains the refusal when versions differ.
Using it
Per the project page, hold ALT in the game to open the radial menu and choose a build mode. With a block in hand, right-click to set the start, aim elsewhere and right-click again to build. CTRL+Z undoes a placement and CTRL+Y redoes it. The modifier settings for mirror, array and radial mirror open from a button in the radial menu or with NUMPAD+ by default. The randomizer tool is crafted from three iron ingots, one redstone dust and any flower.
Server limits
Survival limits are set on the server. The settings are saved in server_config.json inside an effortlessbuilding folder in your world folder, for example world/effortlessbuilding/server_config.json. The world folder is named by the World folder setting in Config Editor. If the file does not exist, the mod uses its defaults.
Only operators (permission level 2 or higher) can change the limits, from the radial menu in the game. Make yourself an operator in the Players tab; Whitelist players and set operators shows how. The file appears after the first save. Keys include:
survivalReach(32),survivalMaxBlocksPlaced(2000) andsurvivalMaxBlocksPerAxis(64).survivalAllowBreaking(true),survivalOnlyPlacedBlocks(true),survivalRequireTools(false) andsurvivalUseDurability(false).creativeReach(200) andcreativeMaxBlocksPlaced(50000).
The values in brackets are the defaults.
Common problems
- The server stops at startup on Fabric: Fabric API is missing. Read the last lines in the Console; Fix mod and plugin errors on Minecraft explains the log.
- The limits won't change: only operators can change them.
- No results for your version: use the Game version filter to find a build for your Minecraft version.
