Install Clumps on your Minecraft server
Install Clumps 26.3.2 on a NeoForge 26.3 server to merge XP orbs into one entity and cut lag, and check what players need.
Clumps, by Jaredlll08, groups the experience orbs that pile up in one spot into a single entity, which cuts the lag a big mob farm or a busy battle can cause. It also makes a player collect an orb the moment it touches them, so there is no cloud of orbs floating in your face. It runs on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, and it is a mod, so Paper and Purpur servers can't load it. This guide installs it on a NeoForge 26.3 server.
Checked against Clumps 26.3.2 on NeoForge 26.3, October 2026.
Pick the right build
Modrinth lists Clumps builds that range from Minecraft 1.10.2 to 26.3. The newest file is 26.3.2 for Minecraft 26.3, published on 16 September 2026, in a Fabric build and a NeoForge build. Forge builds stop at Minecraft 1.21.11. The NeoForge jar asks for exactly Minecraft 26.3, so a build made for 26.2 will not load on a 26.3 server.
To change loader or version, open JAR Manager under More, choose the loader under Server software and the version under Minecraft version, then press Apply change. The panel picks the Java version for you. The switch reinstalls the server and keeps your world, so make a backup in the Backups tab first. Change your Minecraft version or mod loader has the full steps.
Install it
- Open Mods under Content and keep the Modrinth chip selected in the source chip row at the top of the tab. The Game version filter starts on your server's version.
- Search for
Clumpsand press Install on the result named Clumps. - On a Fabric server, Modrinth lists Fabric API as required for Clumps, so a prompt titled "Needs 1 more add-on" appears. Press Install all. NeoForge and Forge builds list no dependencies, so nothing is asked.
- Restart from the Console tab. If the server is stopped, press Start instead. The install toast says "Restart the server to load it".
Open the Installed view to check. Clumps should be listed with no Failed to load badge.
Do players need it?
The project page says that for Minecraft 1.17 or newer, Clumps is only required on the server side, and that older versions need it on both sides. So for a current version you don't need to ask players to install it.
Settings
The 26.3.2 jar has no configuration file or option, so there is nothing to edit after the install. The mod is licensed under the MIT licence.
Common problems
- The server stops at startup after you change version: the Clumps jar is for a different Minecraft version. Open the Mods tab, delete Clumps and install the build that matches the new version.
- Fabric reports a missing dependency: install Fabric API from the same Mods tab.
- No Forge build for your version: Forge builds end at 1.21.11. For 26.x choose NeoForge or Fabric in JAR Manager.
- Other crashes: Fix mod and plugin errors on Minecraft covers reading the Console log. If lag is your real problem, Why is my server lagging is the place to start.
