Set up Another Furniture on Minecraft
Install Another Furniture 4.0.3 on a NeoForge 1.21.1 server, learn what the mod adds, and use the Hammer and seats in the game.
Another Furniture is a furniture mod by Starfish Studios and Crispytwig that stays close to vanilla in style. Its Modrinth page says most blocks fit within a single block of space. It adds chairs, tables, benches, sofas, shelves, drawers, curtains, lamps and more, in the vanilla wood types and the sixteen dye colours. It must be installed on the server and on every player's game.
Checked against Another Furniture 4.0.3 on NeoForge 1.21.1, October 2026. Fabric 1.21.1 has 4.0.2.
Pick the right server version
The newest file, 4.0.3, was published on 23 September 2026 for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1. The newest Fabric file for 1.21.1 is 4.0.2 from 20 December 2025. For Minecraft 1.20.1 there are Fabric 3.0.5 and Forge 3.0.4, and the Modrinth page marks 1.20.1 as in maintenance and 1.19.2 and 1.18.2 as deprecated. The mod does not run on Paper or Purpur.
For 4.0.3, open JAR Manager under More, choose NeoForge under Server software and 1.21.1 under Minecraft version, then press Apply change. The panel picks Java 21 for you. Change your Minecraft version or mod loader has the full steps. Switching reinstalls the server and keeps your world, but make a backup first in the Backups tab.
What it needs
Modrinth lists no dependencies for the 4.0.3 file. The jar's neoforge.mods.toml asks only for NeoForge 21.0 or newer and Minecraft 1.21.1 or newer. The page lists Create and Cobblemon as compatible mods, which means they work together but neither is required.
Install it
- Open Mods under Content and keep the Modrinth chip selected. The Game version filter starts on your server's version.
- Search for
Another Furnitureand press Install on the result by crispytwig. Results such as Yet Another Furniture are different mods. - Restart from the Console tab.
Open the Installed view afterwards. Another Furniture should be listed with no Failed to load badge.
Players need it too
Each player installs the same Another Furniture file for the same loader and Minecraft version. Join a modded server from your launcher covers the player side, and Fix the mismatched mod channel list error explains the refusal when versions differ.
What you can build
The jar's language file lists these pieces: chairs, stools, tall stools, benches, sofas, tables, shelves, drawers, shutters, flower boxes, curtains, lamps, lamp connectors, awnings, lattices and a service bell. Chairs, shelves, tables, shutters, flower boxes, benches and drawers come in the wood types oak, spruce, birch, jungle, acacia, dark oak, mangrove, crimson, warped, bamboo and cherry. Lattices come in the same wood types except mangrove. Sofas, curtains, lamps, awnings, stools and tall stools come in the sixteen dye colours.
A chair is a shaped recipe of planks and sticks that makes three. The mod also adds a Hammer (furniture_hammer in the item list), crafted from planks, sticks and a wooden slab. In the mod's code, using it on a chair or shutter steps through its variant, on a bench it toggles the back, and on a stool it toggles the low setting. In the same code, right-clicking a chair or other seat with an empty hand sits you down, unless you are crouching. Drawers hold items.
Using it on a server
There is little to set up. The jar defines no config settings, so there is no file to edit. Most pieces are made by crafting, and the recipes ship inside the jar. Take a backup before you add it to a busy world, so you can go back if a build goes wrong. Create and restore backups shows how.
Common problems
- The server stops at startup: open the Console and read the last lines. A wrong NeoForge or Minecraft version is the usual cause. Fix mod and plugin errors on Minecraft covers reading the log.
- The mod is not in the store: the Game version filter follows your server. Check it matches the version you chose in JAR Manager.
- Players cannot join: they are missing the mod or run a different version.
