Change Per-Level Stats in ARK: Evolved
Change how much each level-up point is worth for players, tames and wild creatures on ARK: Survival Evolved, with the stat index and Game.ini lines.
Table of contents
Every time a player or a tamed creature levels up, you pick which stat gets the point, and each point is worth a set amount. On your ARK: Survival Evolved server you can change how much a level is worth for players, tamed creatures and wild creatures, one stat at a time. These settings live in Game.ini, and the Server Settings tab does not show them.
Checked against the ARK Wiki's Server configuration page, October 2026.
The three keys
Each key takes the stat's index in square brackets and a multiplier after the equals sign. All three go under [/script/shootergame.shootergamemode].
The tamed key has two more forms. PerLevelStatsMultiplier_DinoTamed_Add is added immediately, and PerLevelStatsMultiplier_DinoTamed_Affinity depends on affinity. The wiki's defaults table lists tamed Health at 0.2 for the plain key, 0.14 for _Add and 0.44 for _Affinity, and Health at 1 for wild creatures.
The stat index
The number in the brackets picks the stat. These are the indexes from the wiki's attribute table:
So PerLevelStatsMultiplier_Player[7]=2.0 doubles the weight a player gains per level, which is the wiki's own example. To give players twice the Health per level, you would write PerLevelStatsMultiplier_Player[0]=2.0.
A value of 0 does not turn a stat off. The wiki says setting it to 0 makes it default to 1.0, and to nearly disable gains you should use 0.01.
Edit Game.ini
- Click Stop in the panel and wait until the server is offline. ARK warns to close the game before changing its ini files, because edits made while it runs are removed.
- Open the File Manager tab and go to
ShooterGame/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/. - Double-click
Game.ini, or select it and click Edit. If it is not there, create a plain text file with that exact name on your computer and click Upload. How to manage your server files covers both. - Make sure the
[/script/shootergame.shootergamemode]header is in the file, then add your lines under it, one per stat you want to change:
[/script/shootergame.shootergamemode]
PerLevelStatsMultiplier_Player[0]=2.0
PerLevelStatsMultiplier_Player[7]=2.0- Click Save, then Start the server.
Common problems
- No difference in game: the lines are under
[ServerSettings]or inGameUserSettings.ini. These keys belong inGame.ini, under the header above. - The edit disappeared: the server was running while you edited. Stop it first.
- The wrong stat changed: check the index. Counting starts at 0, so Health is 0 and Weight is 7.
- Values of 0 still give stats: 0 falls back to 1.0. Use 0.01 instead.
For the other common keys and how the two ini files differ, see ARK ini settings explained.
