Consoles cannot type a server address. Show your server in the Friends list with MCXboxBroadcast, or reach it through BedrockConnect's server list.

Updated 4 min read

Minecraft on Xbox, PlayStation and Switch has no field for a server address, so consoles cannot join a server by typing one in. Your server is Java Edition. Phones and Windows players join it through Geyser on the Crossplay tab. A console needs a workaround to reach the same Geyser address. This guide covers two: adding the server to the Friends list, or using a server list called BedrockConnect.

Checked against the MCXboxBroadcast extension (build 159), BedrockConnect's README and Geyser 2.12.0 build 1267 (beta channel), October 2026. Modrinth lists MCXboxBroadcast build 159 for Minecraft up to 26.2 only, so it has not been checked against 26.3.

Before you start

Turn crossplay on first. Let Bedrock players join your Java server covers the Crossplay tab, the server software it needs and the host and port that Bedrock players use. Come back here once a phone or Windows player can join.

Both workarounds are third-party tools. GeyserMC's consoles page lists BedrockConnect, which is not affiliated with GeyserMC. MCXboxBroadcast is a separate project, documented in its own README.

Option 1: show the server in the Friends list

MCXboxBroadcast is a Geyser extension that makes your server appear to an Xbox Live account's friends as a joinable session. It signs in as a Microsoft account of your choice. Its README suggests using a spare account rather than your main one, because the tool emulates parts of a game client and may be against the terms of service.

  1. Download MCXboxBroadcastExtension.jar from the MCXboxBroadcast releases or its Modrinth page. This one is a Geyser extension, so the Plugins tab does not install it.
  2. Open the File Manager. On Paper or Purpur, go to plugins/Geyser-Spigot and open the extensions folder, or make it with New folder. On Fabric or NeoForge, use config/Geyser-Fabric/extensions or config/Geyser-NeoForge/extensions instead.
  3. Click Upload and pick the jar.
  4. Open Console and press Restart.
  5. Watch the console. The extension prints a sign-in line that begins To sign in, use a web browser to open the page https://www.microsoft.com/link and ends with a code.
  6. Open that page on any device, enter the code and sign in with the account you chose.
  7. Add that account as a friend on Xbox Live. The server appears to the account's friends, so each player who should see it needs to be friends with it.
  8. On the console, open Minecraft and look in the friends tab. The server shows as a joinable game.

The extension also copies the server's message of the day and other details across, and manages the friend list for you.

Option 2: join through BedrockConnect

BedrockConnect is a server list that consoles open by way of a custom DNS setting. You change the DNS on the console, join one of the featured servers it redirects, and the list that opens lets you add your own server.

  1. Open the BedrockConnect README and copy the DNS address for your console. The addresses differ between consoles, and the README has a list of community instances too.
  2. On the console, open the internet settings, set the DNS to Manual and enter that address as the primary DNS. Use 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1 as the secondary DNS.
  3. Open Minecraft and go to the Servers tab.
  4. Join one of the featured servers the README lists as redirect-compatible, such as The Hive or Galaxite. BedrockConnect opens instead.
  5. Add a server with your host and port. The Crossplay tab shows both on its Bedrock Edition card.
  6. Pick it from the list to join.
Warning

GeyserMC notes that BedrockConnect's main address is often blocked on consoles. If it will not connect, try another instance from the README's list. Note what the console's DNS was set to before you change it, so you can put it back.

If a console still cannot join

  • Check a phone or Windows player can join with the same host and port. If they cannot, the problem is crossplay itself, and the other guide covers it.
  • The server is missing from Friends. Look in the Console for the sign-in line after the last restart. If it never appeared, check the jar is in the extensions folder and not in plugins.
  • BedrockConnect will not open. Work through the BedrockConnect troubleshooting page, and try a different instance from the README.
