Set up a FoolCraft server
Install the FoolCraft Forge 1.10.2 pack from the Modpacks tab using CurseForge's server files, then add yourself to the whitelist the pack turns on.
FoolCraft is a Forge modpack for Minecraft 1.10.2. Its CurseForge page says it is aimed at having as much fun as possible, with light mods like VeinMiner, Inventory Pets and Chance Cubes beside heavy tech mods such as Ender IO and Thermal Expansion and magic mods such as Botania. It is the pack used by the YouTube group FoolCraft. You install the server from the Modpacks tab, using the pack's own server files.
Checked against FoolCraft 2.13 (the CurseForge file dated 3 April 2018) on Forge 12.18.3.2511 and Minecraft 1.10.2, October 2026.
What the pack needs
- Minecraft 1.10.2 with Forge 12.18.3.2511. The server files include
forge-1.10.2-12.18.3.2511-universal.jarandminecraft_server.1.10.2.jar, and the panel launches that Forge jar. It runs Minecraft 1.10.2 on Java 8, chosen for you. - Memory. The CurseForge page says the pack needs a minimum of 6 GB and a maximum of 8 GB of RAM allocated to run smoothly. Your plan sets the RAM, so read how much RAM a Minecraft server needs and check the Minecraft plans before you install.
- Disk space. The server files are a download of about 268 MB and unpack to about 301 MB. The download sits on your plan's disk while it unpacks, so you need room for both.
- The same pack version for players. This guide installs 2.13. Players should run that version from the CurseForge app.
Install the server files
- Open your server and choose Modpacks under Content in the left rail.
- Press the CurseForge source button, then search for
FoolCraft. - Press Install on FoolCraft, not FoolCraft 3. The newer pack is a separate project and appears in the same results.
- The popup says it reinstalls your server with the pack and names Minecraft 1.10.2. CurseForge does not tag this older pack with a loader, so the popup may say "modded" where other packs say "Forge". The install does not depend on it: the server files bring their own Forge jar.
- Leave Take a backup first ticked. Your current world is replaced by the pack's. Tick Start the server when it's ready if you want it to start itself, and tick I agree to the Minecraft EULA if the popup shows it.
- Hold Install and reinstall until it fills, then wait for the install to finish.
Add yourself to the whitelist
The pack ships its own server.properties with white-list=true, and the server files contain no whitelist.json. An empty whitelist keeps out everyone who is not already an operator, so do this before anyone tries to join.
- Open Players under Essentials in the left rail and stay on the first tab. It reads Players while the whitelist is off and Whitelist once it is on.
- Press Add, which opens the Add to whitelist window, and add your Minecraft name, then each friend's. If the button at the top reads Turn whitelist on, press it once the list is ready. The tab works whether the server is stopped or running. How to whitelist players and set operators covers the tab.
- Start the server from the Console tab, and wait for the line containing
For help, type. If the EULA has not been accepted yet, the panel asks you to accept it first.
To open the server to everyone instead, switch Whitelist off under Players in the Config Editor.
Settings the pack sets
The pack's server.properties also sets level-name=FoolCraft, level-type=BIOMESOP (a Biomes O' Plenty world), max-players=20, view-distance=10, spawn-protection=0 and enable-command-block=true. The Config Editor World type list offers only the vanilla types, so leave that value alone. If you must change it, edit server.properties in File Manager. To lower the load, change View distance (chunks) under Performance, press Save changes and restart. Your address is in the left rail under Server address.
Common problems
- A player cannot join. Check they are on the whitelist and run FoolCraft 2.13 on Minecraft 1.10.2 with Forge.
- The server lags or runs out of memory. Watch the RAM card on the Console tab and the TPS reading in the left rail and lower View distance (chunks). Why is my server lagging has more.
- The server crashes at boot. Find and read a crash report shows how to name the mod at fault.
Installing a pack reinstalls your server. If you have a world you care about, keep Take a backup first ticked.
