Add WorldGuard ExtraFlags Plus to Minecraft
Add more than 45 region flags to WorldGuard with ExtraFlags Plus: install it, set flags, switch on the opt-in command flags and edit its messages.
WorldGuard's built-in flags cover protection and the basic game rules. WorldGuard ExtraFlags Plus adds more than 45 on top: blocking items and mob spawns inside a region, teleporting or running a command when a player walks in, keeping inventory, limiting entry by level or permission. It is the maintained continuation of the older WorldGuardExtraFlags plugin, and its wiki credits that plugin's original author, isokissa3.
Checked against WorldGuard ExtraFlags Plus 4.4.6 with WorldGuard 7.0.20 on Paper 26.3, October 2026. The plugin's wiki says its docs were last aligned to release 4.4.5, so a flag added in 4.4.6 may be missing from it.
What you need first
- A Paper or Purpur server. The plugin's wiki lists Spigot, Paper, Purpur and Folia, Minecraft 1.21 and up, and Java 21. Java is chosen for your server by Minecraft version, so there is nothing to set.
- WorldGuard 7.0.15 or newer, and WorldEdit, which WorldGuard needs. Set up WorldGuard on your Minecraft server covers both and how to make a region. Do that first.
Do not run ExtraFlags Plus and the old WorldGuardExtraFlags together. The two conflict. If the old WorldGuardExtraFlags.jar is in your plugins folder, delete it in the File Manager and keep only the Plus jar.
Install it
- Open Plugins under Content in the left rail.
- Leave the Modrinth source chip selected, search for
WorldGuard ExtraFlags Plusand click Install. It is also on Hangar, one of the source chips at the top of the tab. - Open the Console tab and click Restart. Plugins load only at startup.
- Type
pluginsin the console. WorldGuard and the ExtraFlags Plus plugin should both be green.
The plugin writes two files inside plugins/WorldGuard: config-wgefp.yml for its behaviour and messages-wgefp.yml for the text players see. Both open in the File Manager.
Set a flag
Every flag uses WorldGuard's normal command, in game, on a region you have already made:
/rg flag <region> <flag> <value>
/rg flag <region> <flag> clearSome examples from the plugin's wiki, using a region called spawn:
/rg flag spawn deny-mobspawn ALL_HOSTILE
/rg flag spawn disable-throw ENDER_PEARL
/rg flag spawn godmode deny
/rg flag spawn keep-inventory true
/rg flag spawn command-on-entry "say Welcome, %player%!"What each one does:
deny-mobspawnstops mobs spawning in the region. It takes a category,ALL_HOSTILE,ALL_NEUTRAL,ALL_PEACEFULorALL, or a list of mob types such asZOMBIE,CREEPER.disable-throwblocks throwing eggs, snowballs, ender pearls and experience bottles.godmodeandflyallow or deny invulnerability and flight. Withdeny, they also switch off EssentialsX's god and fly modes when EssentialsX is installed.keep-inventory truekeeps items on death inside the region.command-on-entryruns a command as the player who enters.%player%becomes their name.teleport-on-entrysends the player to a location written asworld,x,y,z,yaw, pitch, for exampleworld,0,64,0,0,0.
The wiki's flag reference lists every flag with its values. Use clear as the value to remove one.
Settings that are off until you turn them on
The repeating command flags, console-command-repeat and console-command-timer, run console commands on a timer while a player stays in a region. They are off by default. To use them, open config-wgefp.yml in the File Manager, set all-flags-control.console-command-repeat: true or all-flags-control.console-command-timer: true, click Save and restart the server, which also makes the flag register. The repeat interval is 1 to 60 seconds, and the timer is 1 to 300 seconds. Quote the whole value, seconds first, for example "60 give %player% diamond 1".
Console command flags run commands as the server console. Give WorldGuard permissions only to people you trust.
Edit the messages
Players see a message when a flag stops them. Edit messages-wgefp.yml to change the wording. Colour codes such as &c work, and "" turns a message off. Then run wgefp reload in the console, or /wgefp reload in game. In the plugin's source this reloads both messages-wgefp.yml and config-wgefp.yml, although the wiki's overview mentions only the messages file. Its aliases are /wgefplus and /worldguardextraflagsplus. After switching flags on or off in the all-flags-control section, restart instead of reloading, because the plugin does not register disabled flags.
If a flag does nothing
- The flag is unknown. The plugin is not loaded. Check
plugins, and look at the first error in the Console. - It works for others and not for you. Operators bypass protection. Test with a second account that is not an operator.
- Spear blocking is unreliable. The
disable-completelyflag needs PacketEvents, or ProtocolLib as a fallback, to stop spear lunges. In the Plugins tab, search Modrinth for PacketEvents and install it.
