Set up Tebex on your Minecraft server

Install the Tebex plugin from the Plugins tab, link it to your store with tebex secret in the Console, and check that purchases are delivered.

Updated 4 min read

Tebex is a web store for game servers. Players buy items, subscriptions and more on your store page, and the Tebex plugin on your server delivers each purchase by running the commands you set for that package. This guide covers installing the plugin and linking it to your store. Building the store itself happens in your Tebex account.

Checked against the Tebex plugin 2.4.6 on Modrinth (the file the Plugins tab picks for a Paper server, which Modrinth lists for Minecraft up to 26.2), October 2026.

What you need

  • A Tebex store set up for Minecraft: Java Edition. Tebex lists this as a prerequisite, and its guide says to choose Minecraft: Offline instead if your server runs in offline mode. See Minecraft offline mode and its risks.
  • Paper. Tebex's guide lists Bukkit, Spigot and PaperSpigot servers. On a Paper server the store searches for Paper, Purpur, Spigot, Bukkit and Folia files and installs the newest release. For Tebex that is currently the file Modrinth tags for Folia, tebex-folia-2.4.6-0096441.jar. It installed and enabled on our test Paper server, where the Console showed [Tebex] Enabling Tebex v2.4.6 after the restart. The plugin also has Fabric, Forge and NeoForge builds for the Mods tab.
  • A Minecraft version the plugin lists. Modrinth shows Tebex 2.4.6 for Minecraft up to 26.2. On a newer Paper server the store's Game version filter starts on your server's version and hides it. Choose Any version in that filter to find it, though the build does not list your version.
  • Access to the Console tab, where the link command runs. Tebex's steps run it in the console, so you do not need to join the server.
Warning

Selling things on a Minecraft server has rules about what you may sell. Our guide to monetising a Minecraft server under the EULA covers them. Read it before you list packages.

Install the plugin

  1. Open the Plugins tab and stay on the Store view.
  2. Select the Modrinth source button and search for Tebex.
  3. Press Install, then restart the server from the Console tab.
  1. In your Tebex control panel, open Game Servers (creator.tebex.io/game-servers). Tebex's docs reach it from Integrations, then Game Servers, then Edit. Click Connect Game Server, choose Plugin, and copy the secret key it shows.
  2. In the panel's Console tab, in the Send a command box, type tebex secret followed by your key, with no slash, then press Enter.
  3. Run tebex info. It prints your store's details, which confirms the link.

Treat the key like a password and do not post it in chat or screenshots.

How deliveries work

The plugin checks your store every two minutes and runs the commands for new orders as server commands, for example giving an item or adding a player to a group. Those commands only work if the plugin they call is installed. A package that adds a player to a group needs the permissions plugin that owns the group. Set up LuckPerms on your Minecraft server covers one.

Useful commands, all run in the Console:

  • tebex help lists the commands your platform supports.
  • tebex info shows store information.
  • tebex forcecheck runs all the plugin's timed events now, instead of waiting for the next check.
  • tebex refresh reloads the store and package information after you change a package.
  • tebex debug true turns on debug logging while you are testing.

If something does not work

  • The link does not work: make sure the key has no extra spaces.
  • tebex is an unknown command: the plugin did not load. Look for a [Tebex] Enabling Tebex line in the Console after a restart, and check that the Plugins tab shows Tebex as installed and enabled.
  • A purchase has not arrived: orders are collected on the two-minute check, so wait for the next one. To run it sooner, use tebex forcecheck, which the plugin's page says runs all its time-based events at once. The Tebex page says it delivers items when the player is next online, so a package can also wait until the buyer joins. The package's commands also have to be valid on your server.
  • Bedrock players cannot buy: Tebex says a Geyser setup needs the store set to Minecraft: Offline and proxy: true under server in plugins/Tebex/config.yml. Let Bedrock players join your Java server covers the Crossplay tab.
