Set up SuperVanish on your Minecraft server
Install SuperVanish on Paper to hide staff from players, with the vanish and supervanish commands, permissions and common problems.
SuperVanish lets staff hide from other players. An admin can watch the server without anyone seeing them, and a second, deeper mode hides them even from the plugin's own reveal commands. It is controlled by four commands and four permissions.
Checked against SuperVanish 3.3 on Paper 26.2, October 2026.
Which plugin this is
This guide covers SuperVanish from Modrinth, written by PhilippCMD (SuperVanishV3 on GitHub). SpigotMC has a separate plugin with a similar name, "SuperVanish >> Be invisible". This guide does not cover it, so check that plugin's own page if you downloaded that one.
What it needs
- A Plugins tab, so Paper or Purpur (Change Minecraft server version or loader).
- A build that matches your Minecraft version. Version 3.3 lists Minecraft 1.21 to 26.2, and 3.2.4 lists 1.21 to 1.21.11. The store picks the one that fits your server.
- Nothing on the players' side, and no other plugin. The project lists no dependencies.
Install it
- Create a backup in the Backups tab.
- Open Plugins, keep the Modrinth source chip selected and search for
SuperVanish. Pick the one by PhilippCMD. - Click Install on the row.
- Open the Console tab and click Restart, or Start if the server is stopped.
Give yourself access
All four permissions default to operators, so an operator can use the plugin at once. Make yourself one with Operators in the Players tab (Whitelist players and set operators). To give vanish to staff who are not operators, grant the permissions in a permissions plugin (Set up LuckPerms).
vanish.* grants all four at once.
Vanish and SuperVanish
Normal vanish hides you, but other staff with vanish.list and vanish.show can find you with /vanish-list and /vanish-show. SuperVanish does not show up in either of those, so it cannot be revealed that way. The messages tell you which mode you are in: "You are now invisible" for vanish and "You are now in SuperVanish mode" for the deeper one. Run the same command again to switch back.
The plugin remembers who is vanished in a players.yml file in its folder under plugins, and applies it again when you rejoin.
Common problems
- The command does nothing from the Console.
/vanish,/supervanishand/vanish-showanswer "Only players can use this command", so run them in game./vanish-listalso runs in the Console. - You cannot tell whether it worked. Join from a second account and check whether you appear. The plugin's description covers hiding the player only, so test the join and leave messages as well rather than assuming.
- A friend says "no permission". Their account is not an operator and has no
vanish.use. - The store shows No results. The version filter starts on your server's Minecraft version, and version 3.3 lists up to 26.2. On a newer Minecraft, check the project's Modrinth page for a newer build.
Only SuperVanish is hidden from /vanish-list and /vanish-show. Hand out vanish.supervanish more carefully than vanish.use.
