Set up the Jurassic World Reborn II server
Install the Jurassic World Reborn II dinosaur modpack on a Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge server from the Modpacks tab, with its memory and disk needs.
Jurassic World Reborn II is a dinosaur modpack for Minecraft 1.20.1 on Forge. Its CurseForge page describes extracting DNA from fossils, raising prehistoric creatures and building a park, alongside tech and magic mods and extra dimensions. You install the server from the Modpacks tab, using the pack's CurseForge server pack.
Checked against Jurassic World Reborn II v1.1.7 (the CurseForge file dated 20 October 2026) on Forge 47.4.28 and Minecraft 1.20.1, October 2026.
What the pack needs
- Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge 47.4.28. The server pack's
variables.txtnames both. Minecraft 1.20.1 runs on Java 17, which the panel picks for you. - A lot of memory. The author's page lists a minimum of 14 GB of RAM for a server and recommends 16 GB. The server pack's
modsfolder holds 502 jars. Your plan sets the RAM, so check the Minecraft plans before you install, and read how much RAM a Minecraft server needs. The server pack's own start scripts ask for 8 GB, but the panel does not use them. It sizes the heap from your plan's RAM instead. - Disk space. The server pack is a download of about 1.3 GB and unpacks to about 1.4 GB. The download sits on your plan's disk while it unpacks, so you need room for both.
- The same pack version for players. Players install Jurassic World Reborn II v1.1.7 from the CurseForge app. The author's page says OptiFine is incompatible with the pack.
Install the server
- Open your server and choose Modpacks under Content in the left rail.
- Press the CurseForge chip above the search box, then search for
Jurassic World Reborn II. - Pick Jurassic World Reborn II. Two similar projects are different packs: Jurassic World Reborn (no II) and Jurassic World Reborn 2 LITE.
- Press Install. The popup says it reinstalls your server with the pack and names Forge and Minecraft 1.20.1.
- Leave Take a backup first ticked. Your current world is replaced by the pack's. Tick Start the server when it's ready if you want it to start itself, and tick I agree to the Minecraft EULA if the popup shows it.
- Hold Install and reinstall until it fills, then wait for the install to finish.
The pack ships no Forge files of its own, so the install reads variables.txt and sets up Forge 47.4.28 itself.
First start
Press Start on the Console tab. If the EULA has not been accepted yet, the panel asks you to accept it first. The server is up when the console prints a line containing For help, type. Your address is shown in the left rail, with a copy button beside it. Connect to your server for the first time covers adding it in Minecraft, and joining a modded server from a launcher covers the client side.
Settings the pack ships
The server pack includes its own server.properties, and the install keeps it. It sets allow-flight=true, max-tick-time=180000, view-distance=6 and simulation-distance=5. In Config Editor these are Allow flight, Watchdog timeout (ms), View distance (chunks) and Simulation distance (chunks). Raise the distances only if the RAM card on the Console tab and the TPS reading in the left rail stay healthy.
Common problems
- A player cannot join. Check they run v1.1.7 on Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge, then compare their mod list with the server's
modsfolder. - The install stops while unpacking. Your plan's disk may be too small. Check Disk Analyser, clear space and install again.
- The server runs out of memory or lags. Watch the RAM card on the Console tab and the TPS reading in the left rail. If the RAM card stays full, the author's 14 GB minimum is the figure to compare against. Why is my server lagging has more.
- The server crashes at boot. Find and read a crash report shows how to name the mod at fault.
Installing a pack reinstalls your server. If you have a world you care about, keep Take a backup first ticked.
