Set up Dungeons, Dragons and Space Shuttles
Install the Dungeons, Dragons and Space Shuttles quest modpack on a Minecraft 1.12.2 Forge server from the Modpacks tab, on Java 8.
Dungeons, Dragons and Space Shuttles is a hardcore adventure and expert quest modpack for Minecraft 1.12.2 on Forge, by the CurseForge author Freebi85. Its page lists more than 1,750 quests, recipes built around big crafting tables, and over 20 dimensions including other planets. You install the server from the Modpacks tab, using the pack's CurseForge server pack.
Checked against DD&SS_V.8.0_R1 (the CurseForge file dated 8 October 2020) on Forge 14.23.5.2847 and Minecraft 1.12.2, October 2026.
What the pack needs
- Minecraft 1.12.2 with Forge 14.23.5.2847. The server pack ships that Forge jar and the Minecraft 1.12.2 server jar. Minecraft 1.12.2 runs on Java 8, which the panel picks for you.
- Memory. The author's page calls it a heavy pack, mainly on CPU and RAM, and recommends setting 8 GB of RAM. The server pack holds about 250 mod jars, and its own start script asks for up to about 6 GB. The panel does not use that script and sizes the heap from your plan's RAM instead. See how much RAM a Minecraft server needs and the Minecraft plans.
- Disk space. The server pack is a download of about 501 MB and unpacks to about 599 MB. The download sits on your plan's disk while it unpacks, so you need room for both.
- The same pack version for players. Players install DD&SS_V.8.0_R1 from the CurseForge app. The author's page links a separate project, Dungeons, Dragons and Space Shuttles 2. It is a different pack, so do not install it by mistake.
Install the server
- Open your server and choose Modpacks under Content in the left rail.
- Press the CurseForge chip above the search box, then search for
Dungeons, Dragons and Space Shuttles. - Pick Dungeons, Dragons and Space Shuttles, not the one ending in 2.
- Press Install. The popup says it reinstalls your server with the pack. CurseForge does not tag this pack with a loader, so the popup reads "modded" with Minecraft 1.12.2 rather than naming Forge.
- Leave Take a backup first ticked. Your current world is replaced by the pack's. Tick Start the server when it's ready if you want it to start itself, and tick I agree to the Minecraft EULA if the popup shows it.
- Hold Install and reinstall until it fills, then wait for the install to finish.
The server pack ships its own Forge jar, so the install launches that jar and fetches no loader.
First start
Press Start on the Console tab. If the EULA has not been accepted yet, the panel asks you to accept it first. The server pack includes an eula.txt set to false, and the panel's prompt is how it gets accepted. The server is up when the console prints a line containing For help, type. Your address is shown in the left rail, with a copy button beside it. Connect to your server for the first time covers adding it in Minecraft, and joining a modded server from a launcher covers the client side.
The pack has no server.properties. The install writes a short one and the server fills in the rest on its first start. Use Config Editor after that for Player slots, Difficulty and the other settings.
Common problems
- A player cannot join. Check they run V.8.0_R1 on Minecraft 1.12.2 with Forge, then compare their mod list with the server's
modsfolder. - The server crashes straight away. Find and read a crash report shows how to name the mod at fault.
- The install stops while unpacking. Your plan's disk may be too small. Check Disk Analyser, clear space and install again.
- The server lags or runs out of memory. Watch the RAM card on the Console tab and the TPS reading in the left rail. Why is my server lagging has more.
Installing a pack reinstalls your server. If you have a world you care about, keep Take a backup first ticked.
