Install Dungeons and Taverns on your server

Add the Dungeons and Taverns 6.0.2 structure mod to a Fabric, Forge or NeoForge server on Minecraft 26.3, then find its dungeons and taverns.

Updated 4 min read

Dungeons and Taverns, by NovaWostra and a small team, adds structures meant to blend in with vanilla Minecraft. They range from fire watch towers and taverns to dungeons such as an illager hideout. It ships both as a datapack and as a mod for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge.

Checked against Dungeons and Taverns 6.0.2 on Minecraft 26.3, October 2026.

What it needs

The pack publishes a separate build for most Minecraft versions, and the newest is 6.0.2 for Minecraft 26.3. Older versions carry older numbers, such as 5.3.2 for 26.2 and 4.4.4 for 1.21.1. The Game version filter in the store picks the build that matches your server. The panel runs 26.x on Java 25 and sets that up when you pick the version. The 6.0.2 mod file is about 42 MB.

  • Fabric: the mod asks for the Fabric resource loader module, which comes with Fabric API. Modrinth doesn't list Fabric API as a dependency, so the store won't prompt for it.
  • Forge and NeoForge: nothing else is listed.

To change loader or version, open JAR Manager under More, choose the loader under Server software and 26.3 under Minecraft version, then press Apply change. Change your Minecraft version or mod loader has the steps. Switching reinstalls the server and keeps your world, but make a backup in the Backups tab first.

Warning

The project warns that a fake website claims to be the official Dungeons and Taverns site and hosts malware. It names three official places: the creator's Modrinth page, the creator's CurseForge page and the Witches Cauldron Discord. Installing from the Mods tab's Modrinth source keeps you on the first of those.

Install the mod

  1. On Fabric, install Fabric API first. Open Mods under Content, keep the Modrinth chip selected in the source chip row at the top of the tab, search for Fabric API and press Install.
  2. Search for Dungeons and Taverns. The Game version filter starts on your server's version. Press Install on the result.
  3. Restart from the Console tab. The install toast says "Restart the server to load it".

Open the Installed view and check that Dungeons and Taverns has no Failed to load badge.

Players

Modrinth marks the mod as required on the server and optional on the client. The project says the datapack version needs the same file added as a resource pack to show the custom key textures, and that the mod version loads those resources automatically.

Finding the structures

The game places structures while it generates a chunk, so structures from a newly added pack appear in chunks the world hasn't generated yet. Fly somewhere new. If you can't find a dungeon, the project suggests typing /locate structure nova_structures: and letting the autocomplete list the structure names. Vanilla Java Edition needs operator level 2 for locate, so run it in the game as an operator; Minecraft whitelist: add players, set ops shows how to make one.

The project says to trade with the cartographer inside a tavern and level them up to apprentice. You can then move that villager anywhere and keep levelling them to unlock new charts.

The pack also adds enchantments that only come from structure loot, and the project links a separate datapack for people who don't want them.

The datapack version

If you want the datapack, the project publishes it as a zip next to the mod files. Datapacks live in the datapacks folder of your world, which is named by level-name in server.properties and is world by default. Upload the zip into that folder with the File Manager. To drop a structure you don't want, the project says to delete its file under Dnt/data/nova_structures/worldgen/structure_set/ in the datapack.

Updating

Open the Installed view. The panel checks for newer builds by itself. If it finds any, a row shows an Update button and the top button reads Update all (N), which asks you to confirm. Press one, then restart.

Common problems

  • No results for your version: the pack has no build for that Minecraft version. Change the version in JAR Manager.
  • The server stops at startup on Fabric: the Fabric build asks for a Fabric API module. Install Fabric API and restart.
  • Other errors: Fix mod and plugin errors on Minecraft covers reading the Console log.
