Install BetterEnd on your Fabric server

Install BetterEnd 26.301.2 on a Fabric 26.3 server with BCLib, World Weaver and Fabric API, and see what players need to join.

Updated 4 min read

BetterEnd is a Fabric mod that rebuilds the End. Its Modrinth page lists 24 or more new biomes, six new mobs, new wood and stone types, infusion rituals, anvil recipes and a configurable End generator with new island shapes and cave systems. It has no Forge or NeoForge build, so it needs a Fabric server and goes in the Mods tab.

Checked against BetterEnd 26.301.2 (beta), World Weaver 26.301.2 (beta) and BCLib 26.301.2 (alpha) on Fabric 26.3, October 2026.

What you need

  • Fabric on Minecraft 26.3 exactly. The 26.301.2 jar declares Minecraft 26.3, Fabric Loader 0.19.0 or newer, Fabric API 0.155.0 or newer and Java 25. The panel picks Java 25 for 26.x.
  • BCLib and World Weaver, both at 26.301.x. The jar also asks for WunderLib, but World Weaver carries a copy inside it, so you do not install that separately.
  • A beta label. Every BetterEnd build for Minecraft 26.x on Modrinth is marked beta, and BCLib is an alpha on 26.3. A fresh install takes the newest release if there is one, else the newest beta, else the newest alpha, so expect the beta label on BetterEnd.
  • Other versions. Modrinth also lists 26.201.4 for 26.2, 26.101.4 for 26.1, 21.800.3 for 1.21.6 to 1.21.8 and 4.0.12 for 1.20.1. They need matching BCLib builds, which the install window sorts out.

The jar is large, about 95 MB (99,419,157 bytes). That is under the 100 MB browser upload limit of the File Manager, but installing from the Mods tab avoids uploading it yourself.

Switch the server to Fabric 26.3

  1. Open JAR Manager, under More in the left rail.
  2. Set Server software to Fabric and Minecraft version to 26.3, then press Apply change.
  3. Leave Take a backup first ticked, press and hold Confirm & reinstall, and wait for the console to finish.

Your world is kept, but configuration files may be reset. Change your Minecraft version or mod loader covers the switch.

Install it

  1. Open the Mods tab under Content and keep the Modrinth chip selected.
  2. Search for BetterEnd and press Install.
  3. The window reads "Needs 3 more add-ons": Fabric API, BCLib and World Weaver. It also offers Mod Menu and Just Enough Items (JEI) as optional extras, and the server runs without them. Press Install all (4).
  4. Go to Console, press Start and accept the EULA prompt the first time.

On Fabric 26.3 the start log lists bclib, betterend, fabric-api and wover as loaded, and the server reaches its Done line.

Then open the Installed view. BetterEnd and its libraries should be listed with no Failed to load badge. That badge did not appear in our tests when a server crashed at start, so also check that the Console reaches its Done line.

Players need it too

Modrinth lists BetterEnd as required on both the client and the server. Each player installs BetterEnd, World Weaver and BCLib at 26.301.x, plus Fabric API 0.155.0 or newer, for Fabric 26.3. Use Export for players in the Installed view for a zip of what players need, and read Join a modded server from your launcher. If you also want a changed Nether, see Install BetterNether on your Fabric server.

Settings

BetterEnd keeps its settings in the config/betterend folder, which appears in the config folder after the first start. The two files that matter here are generator.json and client.json, and both are JSON. The generator file holds options such as generate_central_island, generate_obsidian_platform, has_portal, has_pillars, biome_size_caves, end_city_fail_chance, use_new_generator, has_dragon_fights and give_guide_book. The client file holds custom_sky, sulfur_water_color and blend_biome_music. Stop the server before you edit one in the File Manager.

To test the End generator on a clean world, use a new world folder name in the Config Editor.

Common problems

  • The server stops and names bclib, wover or fabric-api. Install the missing mod from the Mods tab.
  • No results for your version. BetterEnd has no build for it. Change the version in JAR Manager.
  • The End still looks like vanilla. On a new world made with the panel's default World type, the start log warns that BetterEnd's End generator is not used and vanilla End generation is used instead. World Weaver's warning names wover:normal as the default preset it expected, and the Config Editor World type list has no such option. Stop the server and set level-type=wover:normal in server.properties in the File Manager before the world is created. With that set, the start log shows neither warning. A world keeps the preset it was created with, so changing level-type later has no effect on a world that already exists.
  • Players are refused with a mismatch message. Fix the mismatched mod channel list error explains it.
  • Other crashes. Fix Minecraft mod and plugin load errors shows how to read the log.
